TOWN HALL MEETING – DADE COUNTY ALUMNAE CHAPTER

On Saturday, April 28, 2012, members of Dade County Alumnae Chapter's DELTA GEMS and EMBODI participated in a Town Hall with leaders from the community.

Issues in the community related to African-American males was the topic.

EMBODI- (Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence) program is designed to refocus the efforts of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., with the support and action of other major organizations, on the plight of African-American males. Both informal and empirical data suggests that the vast majority of African-American males continues to be in crisis and is not reaching its fullest potential educationally, socially and emotionally. EMBODI is designed to address these issues through dialogue, and recommendations for change and action. EMBODI will include a program format and information template. The delivery options may include a town hall meeting, workshops, and/or teen leadership summits.

Step Team Wins $1,500 for Scholarships

On January 7, 2012, the Dade County Alumnae Chapter's Step Team won First Place in the National Pan Hellenic Council's (Miami Chapter) Step Show. The team won $1,500 for Scholarships.

Step Team Members: Trenyce McCoy, Natasha Ashley, Vonesia Campbell, Judith Case, Trameka Wade, Satarria Level, Traci Young & Krystal Dobbins proved that hard work pays off.

Sorors came out in large numbers to show support. Congratulations to our Step Team and to the Pan Hellenic Council for a successful show.

Sorors, family and friends came out in large numbers and enjoyed food, socializing and Holiday excitement.

Chili’s Doral, supported 15% ‘give back’ on all of our sales.

With each 15% ‘give back’ flyer presented on our Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. – DeltaCare, Inc. night, Chili’s Doral donated 15% of the sales to our organization.

HAITI BACK TO SCHOOL DRIVE – International Awareness & Involvement Committee

On Saturday, September 17, 2011, Dade County Alumnae Chapter, in conjunction with DeltaCare, Inc., International Awareness & Involvement Committee presented: HAITI BACK TO SCHOOL DRIVE in the community. Sorors received donations for school-aged students in the Country of Haiti.
